Growing up, fashion always took the backseat in my mind, due to the vast and overwhelming nature of the clothing industry. I would always settle for the basic grey tracksuits and blank hoodies; not out of preference, but simply because I didn’t know what else to wear. In essence, I felt “fashionless.”
This indecisiveness led me to embrace the simple garments that I had always resonated with; Modest, comfortable pieces that were subtly bold and reliable for everyday use.
In retrospect, by simply walking into retail stores, I was never able to find garments that "fit the mold". From baggy jeans that were just a little too baggy or hoodies that were made from thin, flimsy fabrics, there was always something off. As such, my clothing choices were heavily influenced by my immediate environment. Whether it was close family or friends or a passerby on the street, I would often look to those around me for inspiration.
In early 2023, the idea for the brand was conceived: a label, which at its crux, draws influence from and recognises both retro and contemporary fashion, blending classic looks of the past with the comfort and effortless style of modern clothing. This fundamentally epitomizes the brand name: "Hommage"; the French counterpart of an English borrowing "homage" meaning a "deed that is done to honor or recognise someone or something".
Ultimately, we stand firmly by our values of wearability, sustainability, and timeless simplicity. Our aim is to provide essential additions to any wardrobe, with each piece a timeless, unsophisticated garment that promotes confidence and authenticity.
